Jacobin

Amazon Organizers Should Study the Fight for 15

Jacobin
2 months 2 weeks ago
Nothing is more important for unions right now than organizing Amazon. Organizers can learn from the Fight for 15’s success at building pressure through a broad public campaign — and its failure to build a real organization of, by, and for workers.

A Voice From Northern England, but Which One?

Jacobin
2 months 2 weeks ago
Britain’s new prime minister, Andy Burnham, says he can connect with the northern working-class voters who were once Labour’s base. Yet after decades of deindustrialization, it’s less clear that the party can rebuild its roots outside the main cities.

How Earth-Centered Education Helps Children Learn Through Nature, Play, and Relationship

Green Social Thought
2 months 3 weeks ago

by Peter Kindfield

Children learn best when curiosity, relationships, and direct experience shape education. This article explores Earth-centered ecological education, an approach that encourages learning through nature, free play, observation, and cooperation rather than rigid curricula and standardized outcomes. It examines how time outdoors helps children develop ecological understanding, emotional resilience, communication skills, and a sense of responsibility toward the living world. At a time of growing ecological disruption and social uncertainty, the article argues that reconnecting education with nature offers practical lessons for nurturing thoughtful, adaptable, and compassionate individuals capable of living within the limits and relationships that sustain life.
